This server is full of people with different personalities and backgrounds. We have loads of nationalities and cultures as well as personal beliefs and values. And ages too.

The one thing that keeps it all together is RESPECT.

We have rules that clearly state no harassment, hate speech, bullying or discrimination is tolerated.

Many other corners of the internet are full of - lets's be blunt here - the most unbelievably toxic ****.

That is not the culture we want here.

So it's up to each and everyone of us to respect the rules and each other here. Kindness and consideration are the tools to having good relationships and good communities.

We're often incredibly willing to give people a chance to learn this. But do note that we will also have no regrets removing people who show no intention of respecting the rules and the community.

What to do if you find yourself distrusting the authorities?

On this server it might be the admins, the staff team in general, or any person in specific. And it may be hard to bring it up.

I believe anything can be sorted out with honest and open communication.

So please talk to us if that happens. I promise we'll listen.

We have new moderators! Welcoming Mozg 🧠 and Snailjuices 🐌 to the staff team as JrMods.

Once they've gotten some training, feel free to reach out to them for all your moderation needs, just like anybody else in the staff.

I want to remind everyone that we have ZERO TOLERANCE towards any kind of discrimination.

There has been an addition to the rules page on the wiki to remind everyone of this. Our policy on eg. racial slurs has unfortunately been somewhat fluid in the past, depending on who's judging the situation.

The new rules addition is as follows:

"We have zero-tolerance for any kind of discrimination. Racial slurs will get you immediately permabanned."

The community has recently expressed concern over the language being used ingame and how it's only being moderated after the damage has been done.

We now have a chat filter that should take care of the worst slurs, insults and nsfw content.

The filter works ingame and is not an excuse to use foul language. Slurs will still get you moderated, censored or not.

CHANGES IN STAFF

I am sad to announce that kleedje is leaving the staff after having been part of the team for nearly 1,5 YEARS. Applause for the longest stint on the job as of yet (yes, she started as a mod before I did).

We'll miss her, but will be consoled by all the haj she's built on the server.

What this means is that we have open positions for mods! The job is fun, don't be afraid to apply if you feel like stepping up to help and keep the server fun and grief-free for all.

Moderators need to be at least 16 years old and have 200+ hours of playtime.

Time to bring back my favourite topic: Kindness.

What ard has created here is community that's supposed to be friendly and fair. The rules reflect that, and the staff enforces the rules.

The friendly vibe doesn't just magically happen though. It's up to all of us to be kind, to consider other people and to own up to our mistakes.

I would like to remind everyone that in case of conflict, please ping mods (Moderation) to help resolve it. Escalating situations by resorting to insults and revenge is always a bad idea.

Also, I believe we all have the common sense to understand the spirit of the rules. There is no need to go nitpicking about the wording of the rules, when the spirit of the rules is simply being kind to each other.

Let's not be mean. That alone will take us a long way.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

As a reminder to all, let’s have a few words about what to do if someone is breaking the rules ingame.

  • Anyone can refer new players to the rules. This is helpful and polite.
  • You may tell someone not to steal if you see them doing it. If they don’t listen, however…
  • Do not threaten or insult anybody. We’re all friendly after all, even if some new player is not.
  • There is no need to try to recover stolen loot, trap griefers or repair grief. Unless you’re a mod of course.
  • For non-urgent issues, use /report. If urgent help is needed and moderators are not ingame, ping @Moderation.

Keep in mind that the staff can see the alerts and logs, so let them do their job without interfering. A fight in the chat only distracts the staff from their work, because working with the logs requires reading the logs in the chat.

Hope that helps. If you have any other questions or worries, let me know!

Let's have a few words about safety.

We aim to be a safe community. Safe from harm and age inappropriate content.

But there's also an aspect of safety that's about trusting people to have your back. That you can find some support if you're feeling down.

It's not uncommon to struggle with hard stuff in your real life. It's ok to find some support here.

Keep in mind though, that it's a gaming community. Nobody is a mental health professional and many people are kids who should not have to worry about other people's wellbeing.

So in a really serious situation, real life people are the ones to turn to. Trusted adults, be it parents or teachers or other people. Professional helpers. I'm sure there are online chats in all countries too, that are meant for mental health help.

Let's keep being supportive, but remember that there are limits to what a gaming community can help with.

Take care of yourself. You matter.
